Many years ago when I was first saved I was asked this question from a doubter.
Who did Cain Marry? And I said, his sister. But how can we from the Word of God show this? Any takers? I do have my ideas about this from the Book I was wondering if anyone else did?

Genesis 5:4 plainly says as much, "[Adam] had other sons and daughters. Therefore Cain must have married his sister. But to admit this is to raise a
further difficulty: was he thereby guilty of incest?
At least two things can be said in response to this reproach. First, if the human race was propagated from a single pair, as we believe the evidence indicated, such closely related marriages were unavoidable. The demand for some other way of getting the race started is an unfair expectation. In the second place, the notion of incest must be probed more closely. At first the sin of incest was connected with sexual relationships between parents and children. Only afterward was the notion of incest extended to sibling relationships. By Moses' time there were laws governing all forms of incest {Lev. 18:7-17; 20:11-12, 14, 17, 20-21; Deut. 22:30; 27:20, 22, 23}. These laws clearly stated that sexual relations or marriage is forbidden with a mother, father, stepmother, sister, brother, half-brother, half sister, grand-daughter, daughter-in-law, son-inlaw, aunt, uncle or brother's wife. The Bible, in the meantime, notes that Abrahm married his half sister in Gen. 20;12. Therefore, the phenomenon is not unknown in Scripture. Prior to Moses' time, incest in many of the forms later proscribed were not thought to be wrong. Thus, even Moses' own father, Amram, married an aunt, his father's sister, Jochebed in Ex. 6:20. In Egypt, the routine marriage of brothers and sisters among the Pharaohs all the way up to the 2nd c. made the Mosaic law all the more a radical break with their Egyptian past. The genetic reasons for forbidding incest were not always an issue. Close inbreeding in ancient times was without serious or any genetic damage. Today, the risk of genetic damage is extremely high. Since the genetic possibilities of Adam and Eve were very good, there were no biological reasons for restricting marriages to the degree that it became necessary to do later.

Incest has long been a taboo in virtually every society on earth, even among animals. |

Well Steelmaker, we are going to have to disagree. When Gen. begins with "in the beginning," I so happen to take it literally. Genesis gives the
beginning of almost everything including the beginning of the universe, life, man, sabbath, death, marriage, sin, redemption, family, literature, cities, art,
languages, and sacrifice.
Although adam can be used for "mankind" in a collective sense, it is also a proper noun, the first man whom God created. Sometimes in Hebrew it means an idefinite "someone." Some other considerations within the Scriptures that lead me to disagree with you are the fact is that God created woman {singular} from Adam rib {singular}. When God breathed into the nostrils of man the Scriptures said "HIS" and not "THEIRS" In this verse 7 it continues on to say "and man {Adam} became a living being {nephesh...meaning soul or live}. Verse 21 says "he slept; then He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh at that place." And verse 25 tells us that "THE" man and "HIS" wife were both naked and were not ashamed." IMHO Steelmaker, there is a little too much to believe other than what Scripture tells me.

GW, I dunno if He created animals that way or not; after all they have no souls. But incest is such a strong "taboo" that I doubt if anyone ever
married his/her full sibling unsinfully. And in Leviticus 18 & 20, GOD specifically forbids such unions.
And, MV, Genesis tells of the RE-ARRANGEMENT of the face of the earth. God had already made it; His Spirit moved over THE FACE OF THE DEEP. thus, it had to have already been there. And the fossil records found in the stone speak VOLUMES. |

MV, I agree with you. I have heard many theories on how the earth was made. However, we have to throw theories out the window and trust in God don't we?
Many people assume that God cannot make anything without form and void. Says who???? Not God. You see, I see the making of the heaven and earth as he made man.
God created the materials out of nothing..but then formed (made) creation in six days from those materials, except I believe that man was set apart as a
special. He created the materials for man on the sixth day, but then formed him...made him a later day. It says God created man on the sixth day, this was by
his Word "let us make man in our own image"..but then in chapter two it tells of how God formed the man out of the dust and the beasts of the earth
as well. Notice that God created all of mankind on the sixth day..."let them have dominion over all the earth.." yet God set Adam (singular) in a
garden in the earth? Adam did not yet have dominion over all the earth...but God was speaking of all mankind on the sixth day...."let them". So God
created man (mankind) on the sixth day...but formed the first man later. God created the cattle on the sixth day....but formed, or made them, later. That is my
view of it anyway...may sound a bit wacky, but think about it...it may just start to make sense!

this sounds right also Notice that God created all of mankind on the sixth day..."let them have dominion over allthe
earth
but he had angels already there they shouted and praised God for all of the things created, tell me was eden in heaven ? when and did God threw man out of heaven ,,,remember he has thrown the satan out and all his followers, ,, where did they land and was eden on the earth or in heaven.was the seperating done when the flood come or what? youwanted questions and God has the answers.to all/ " Welcome to: "The

Hi Jerry,
You had said; Notice that God created all of mankind on the sixth day..."let them have dominion over all the earth.." yet God set Adam (singular) in a garden in the earth? Adam did not yet have dominion over all the earth...but God was speaking of all mankind on the sixth day...."let them". So God created man (mankind) on the sixth day...but formed the first man later. God created the cattle on the sixth day....but formed, or made them, later. That is my view of it anyway...may sound a bit wacky, but think about it...it may just start to make sense! Oh boy, we are not seeing eye to eye Jerry. I have studied Hebrew and Greek, and all evidence within the "grammar" formation of the language all point to "singular" within the context of Chapter 1 and 2 of Gen. Verse 7 of chapter 2 "Then the Lord God formed man {singular} of dust from the ground and breathed into his {singular} nostrils the breath of life and man became a living being {soul}{singular}" Verse 18 of chapter 2 "Then the Lord God said, it is not good for THE man to be ALONE; I will make HIM a helper {singular} suitable for HIM." Every verse talks of a singular "man" and singular "woman" I see your point, but taking the whole context of Gen. 1 & 2, every verse speaks of "the man" and "the woman". Once again, these chapters in the Hebrew present "man" "Adom" as singular. As you know that there are these two accounts of creation in the first two chapters of Genesis, but this need not cause us to conclude that they are incompatible, as some have suggested. The two sections actually complement each other. 1:1-2:4a presents a wide angle view of all seven days of creation and deals with the creation of man and woman as a single act. Then in 2:4b-24 the author zooms in on the 6th day, giving details which were not possible in an overview like Chapter. The separate origins of man and woman are brought into sharp focus. Therefore, chapters 1 and 2 are not chronological but 2:4b-24 presents in greater detail some of what 1:11, 12, 24-31 merely summarizes. Another thought, if you believe by this account in Scripture intended that "all humanity" {all men & women of different kinds} was formed {men & women}, why is there no mention of them being expelled from the Gar Eden? Wouldn't you think this humanity would have gone crazy and gone after Adam and Eve after the fall? Why had God only instructed them in regard to the Tree of Life? When Scripture tells us in Gen. 2:24 "For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh" and then according to your theory, indicates that there was a mother and father involved with Adam and Eve? Do you see the confusion you cause when we interject into God's word? The "them" within this verse is referring to the "man" {Adom} in the singular and same with woman.

Hi Jerry and Marilynne
Here is my understanding.. Gen 1 is the Big picture of what's going to take place and Gen. 2 is a detailed account on how God created men and women. We don't need to go to the Greek or The Hebrew to understand this, but the Hebrew does support " God Created Man " not "men", nor "them" in Gen.2 If you say that God created "them" in Gen. 1 by not seeing the big picture you run into a wall and a contradiction and we all know God's Word has no contradictions in it. There are many illustrations like this found throughout the entire Bible. Not only that when God created the " Heaven and the Earth." You notice the sinular word " Heaven " and not "Heavens" found in your perverted NIV, RSV, NASB, etc.etc. that's because God doesn't live in Heaven before He created it. So we see God and Heven are not identical. One is eternal and one is not. One was created and one wasn't. How many floods took place before Noah's flood? Read 2 Pet. 3:5-6 again and again.

I believe when God created man on the sixth day is when he made our spirits. When he formed the body he breathed that spirit into us and we, or us in Adam.... BECAME a living soul. Notice the word became...instead of "and man was a living soul". He wasn't a living soul to begin with...but a spirit without body...without form. Now I think you misunderstood me...I never said any reference to man beyond chapter 1 as to referring to all mankind. Only the account of creation of man (not making) in chapter 1 on the sixth day. Although I do not see why you couldn't look at it as all men when God spoke of Adam the individual for we were all in him anyway. Anyway, all I ask is that you think about this a while, if you cannot bring yourself to agree that's just fine by me. As far as Gen. 2:24 goes...doesn't the Bible say that Adam was a son of God? The Spirit was Adam's father, and New Jerusalem was his mother. No doubt that sounds wacked out to you! LOL That's ok, I am just putting it out there for consideration. The Bible says that New Jerusalem is the mother of us all, and I believe that includes Adam. Now to answer your questions... "Another thought, if you believe by this account in Scripture intended that "all humanity" {all men & women of different kinds} was formed {men & women}, why is there no mention of them being expelled from the Gar Eden? Wouldn't you think this humanity would have gone crazy and gone after Adam and Eve after the fall? Why had God only instructed them in regard to the Tree of Life?" I didn't make it clear of the difference between creating and making. God created all humanity on the sixth day yes, but did not make him just yet. When Adam was made (not created) his spirit was brought to his body and Adam became a living soul...hence the first man that was made....literally. So literally, there were only Adam and Eve in the garden, but our spirits were already created on the sixth, yet we do not take form (or are made) til our birth in our time. Think on this...when did God create your spirit? What is your spirit? Is there an instance written of in the Bible when the spirit is caused to exist? I say yes...on the sixth day. God bless you MV, and take all this for what it is worth. This is not stone cold fact in my mind, but I am still studying all this out.

the whole thing hinges on God seeing mans lifetime, as a blink of the eye, remember he had told adam one the day you eat from the tree you will die tha tday
,one day to God is a thousand years, in mans way of seeing , the man was still being created and honed into the shape
God wanted mankind to be in and only in this day five thousand years later is man about finished ot God generation he wanted ot make in the first place but it had ot evolve into that , i can see man evolving into,,, none of the people lived ot be one thousand years old,,, matheusela lived to be 9 hundred somethning years old and it is true they lived a long long time according to mankina dnhis thinking he at 9oo was old old old, so why is none living hardly past 99 today..... ,,none went past one thousand years mans time,,, they died in that day of creation,,, we are now in the finishing touches of creation we are now the generation of the new testament ,, we are the generation tha tGod gave ot his son jesus , he shall not loose none God has given ot him.... the new covenant that God seen back there in the beginning read isaiah 66 and you shall see what i speak of ,,, zion is the mother of us all (adolia ,or Bethlehem),,God breathed a help mate oti help him to create God is a spirit.....a spirit invisable air is invisabl;e so is God,, heis allover,,,if i go to heaven he is ther eif i go into hell he is ther ,he is inside of me and you, this generation,,,, that is why i said when we hurt our brothers and sisters we are hurting God,,he hurts,,,, it is starting the never ending day soon as time on this earth of creation is just now finishing up the Bible we are already into the plan of God in the last sixth day , and God will rest,,,,or he already is resting when jesus said it is finished he had finished up the Job ,God inside of jesus finally said it is finished,......God told man his way of thinking is not as mans way of thinking, ,,he does things his own way, ,,, when you go to sleep at night it seems you only close your eyes and you awaken and all rested and it seemed as if you just turned over, .,....do you realize how many hours the human being sleeps in their life lifetime at least a third of it,,,sixty years old you hav slept twentyof them , 100 you have slept 33 and 1/3, of them in ''laalaa land'',,.,God teaches you in yoru sleep.,.and heals the body,,,, sleep is great though,,,,i learn more about God in my sleep and seems in a different land,, and i never dream of sleeping there,. Jerry, I hopeya study it THOROUGHLY. You seemta have picked up some awfully silly ideas somewhere. 'Tis ridiculous to say God created man on the 6th day
but didn't make him yet! All GOD hadta do was think "Let there be a man" and there woulda been a man. However, he chose to make man outta the
dust. He said, "Let US(Himself, Jesus, the Holy Spirit) make man...".
As for "heaven/heavens", the same Hebrew word, "shamayim ", is rendered both ways in the KJV, between Genesis 1 & 2 for starters. To say the MVs are incorrect by rendering it 'heavens' where the KJV & s'others say 'heaven' is an error. the reference in Gen. 1 & 2 are to the SKY, as man sees it, the current appearance of the heavenly bodies as seen from different spots on earth. This has not always been the same as it is now. Moses knew this, and this is what he was referring to. I believe we all agree that there's no such thing as evolution among the plants' animals. thus, the fossil records reveal the existence of many life forms no longer extant upon the earth, while there are no fossils of most current life forms to be found. (I don't believe Kent Hovind's trash as far as I can toss the Rocka Gibraltar!) And when fossils of current life forms are found, they are identical in just about every respect except size. For example, the ancient horses were no larger than collies; some species of dragonflies had foot-wide wingspans. Roaches were 3 inches long. Ancient capybaras(currently the largest-known rodents, were no larger than mice.(Present-day capybaras are sometimes 4 feet long, weighing some 140 lbs.) And God told Noah to take a pair of EVERY animal species on the ark. I'm sure GOD used His power to supply Noah with many of these critters, & placed them in a state of estivation so they wouldn't require food, "use the bathroom", or fight while together on the ark. I don't believe any animal species then alive was written off by God. I believe the dinosaurs, & many mammals(smilodons, mastodons, etc.)were already extinct. And please, don't anyone insult our, or your own, intelligence by saying those beasts never existed! And remember, GOD hasn't stopped creating! There are new species of plants & animals discovered every year! And these species have NOT simply been overlooked by man! Usually, they're discovered by outdoors-living hunter/gatherer folx who know every living species of plant/animal in their environments. So, what's to have prevented GOD from making new people from dust, from nothing, or whatever?
