Is Obama obsessed with the Sermon on the Mount?
Is it just me or has anyone else observed that our newly appointed President is obsessed with the Sermon on the Mount? For being such a supposed staunch
supporter of his amalgamated Christian and Muslim background (which I am now officially morphing into a new category titled "Obama Islama
Christianlum".) he tends to not understand the impact nor significance of this particular speech made by Jesus Christ and yet, he leans heavily on this
one piece of scripture time and again, using it to defend or defy some political position or another in his administration. .jpg)
Even before his election Obama made an address in 2006, calling the Sermon on the Mount a 'radical' piece of speech that not even the Defense Department could live up to. And yet, he used this very piece of 'radical' scripture to defend his stance on gay marriage. At a campaign event in Ohio, when asked by a local Pastor how he planned to win evangelical votes when he disagrees with many Christians on the subject of same sex marriage, Obama stated that "If people find that controversial, then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans,"
