Art wrote: So CJ Are you suggesting we remove the sermon on the mount from our Bibles? It is Gods Word and just because men have used it wrongly at times, is no reason to isolate oneself from a beautiful portion of scripture. God wrote the book, including this sermon and I love it. We cannot pick and choose what parts of the new testament are valid and turn a deaf ear to other parts of the NT.

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Jas 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. This "But I say unto you" is repeated many times by Christ, so, no, stoning is no longer done. See how silly your agument is?
Rom.12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. We do this now, when we capture them and put them in prison.

Luke 10 25And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
29But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
30And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
37And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Art wrote: The sermon on the mount says christians are the light of the world and salt of the earth. If this sermon is not for the church age, then when is it for?. The millenium where Christ is ruling with a rod of iron??? Not likely. We are light amidst a world of darkness and we are salt in that the Holy Spirit dwells in believers. Salt is a preservative, it restrains decay and when the rapture occurs , that preserving effect will be gone and the world will plunge into the darkness of the great tribulation and the coming of the man of sin who was restrained while the church was on earth. The new testament bears witness that we are light and therefore the sermon on the mt is applicable now. There is nothing in the sermon that is of any benefit in the millenium, it is for the here and now. CJ, please take your doctrines from the scriptures and dont believe something just because Shain says so. Read the sermon on the mount and tell which can be applied to the church today?? I think you will have to admit it applies now while Christ has not yet come. Showing mercy, persecution, light, salt, mourning, humility and such like is what should apply NOW, not after Christ has already come.

Art wrote: Shain Your reasoning is ridiculous. Not my opinion at all. You see Art unlike you I believe in Isa.28: 13 So, according to you, christians are not to be light, not to be salt , cannot get persecuted for righteousness sake, we are not to mourn ,not to be peacemakers when Paul says we are to live peacably with all men???? I'll ask you again and try to stay focused. Where in the Sermon on the Mount at any time Jesus is talking to any Christian, or the Church. Show me the verse or verses. You claim to read every verse and believe what every word says, ( Your Words not mine) then show us all here where does Jesus direct his words to the Chruch or any Christian in all of those verses.? Paul is not found in the Sermon on the Mount, so lets keep with the Sermon on the mount and stop trying to muddy up the waters. Can you do that ?? Lets keep it real simple show me the verse or verses that are direct to the Christain and the Church when neither are found in any of it. The Church hasn't been established yet did you know that? I have been line by line thru the Beatitudes and the new testament hundreds of times and you have your own agenda for discarding these verses. They are needed NOW, not in the millenium where Christ is ruling and reigning with a rod of iron. This teaching is what hyper dispensationalism teaches, How can one be so screwed up as you are. Hyper Dis..doesn't teach this at all. Show me in any of their teachings that shows us they do. that the gospels do not apply to the church. Have you joined their ranks in part?? You show me where in the Bible where it states that these beatitudes cannot be applied to the church?????I will take the scriptures word for it, not yours. I have already shown Cym this over and over again, you just didn't bother to read them, because they don't matter to you at all.
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Tell me something, has Christ fulfilled the law yet? When did He do this/
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: This Kingdom is not found here yet is it Art? Only in the Millennium you'll find the Kingdom of Heaven. but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Tell me again Art how does this exactly apply to the Christian Doctrinally? This is not the way one today gets to Heaven is it Art? Answer the question, yes or no? I thought Christians are saved by Grace? So are we or are we not Art saved by Grace and not by our own righteousness? After you try and disregard this one to fit your Liberal Gospel I have much more for you to chew on.
