Who would have ever imagined that there would come a day when Christ's Love would be given short shrift by those who claim His Name? Has the church today
slipped so far into Laodecia that we are willing to jettison this most basic tenet of our Faith in order to appeal to our fleshly nature and desire for worldly
power?
Loving one's enemies certainly doesnt make any sense to the natural man. The natual man knows the worldly way to get things done: might makes right and dont get mad get even, and winning is everything.
But God says behold, I show you a more excellent way: Love. Jesus says love your enemies, and pray that the blessing of knowing His Salvation would come to them. To many this seems foolish, but again He tells us His ways are not our ways, His ways are much higher. What seems foolish to the natural man is the wisdom of God. Too many see this divine command of love as weakness. It is anything but! It is much easier to give into our fleshly desire to anger, to give in to hatred, to give in to vengeance, and much more difficult to love with Christ's love the one who has injured you, the one who you long to hate and revile. But we must remember that the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
I thank God there are still some Christians willing to take up the Cross and lay down their lives, willing to put off their desires, and take up the life of Christ - the life of self sacraficial Love.
I pray Lord Jesus, give me strenth to follow in your footsteps and Love even when my natural desire is for wrath and vengence, because this is what you did. You lay down your life for me, you drank the cup of pain and suffering and death for me, you paid the price because you loved me even tho I was sinner. I ask in the power of your Holy Name that you will hear and answer my prayer.
