This verse in the King James Bible is as follows: "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from
the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." (1 Timothy 6:10).
This has been shown to be correct because:
(1) It has been the historically attested reading.
(2) Gainsayers forget that the "root" needs to be looked at as to the where all evil is derived from and (as we know) roots are often hidden from plain view.
(3) The term "the love of money" is referring to a heart attitude, which is covetousness.
(4) Modern scholars use their own worldly reasoning to put their modern version slant of the love of money being "a" root.
