The so-called "Mystery, Babylon" religion was started by Nimrod and his mother-wife Semiramis. After he had established his kingdom, he
re-introduced the worship of images to the people, along with many rites & practices he & Semiramis invented. Many of these were introduced into the
RCC early in its history. Among them are:
Celibate priesthood
purgatory
Round wafers representing the sun & moon at Communion insteada the broken bread Jesus used
Honoring Dagon, the fish god. "He" the Pope's mitre is the same as Dagon's image wore, & fish are eaten on Fridays in "his" honor.
Prayers to "patron saints" have replaced prayers to the old pantheon of gods & godlets
Astrology
Prayer beads(today's rosary beads)
"queen of heaven"(First, it was Semiramis, later replaced by Mary in the RCC)
There's indisputable evidence, from both Scripture & worldwide secular sources, that the year was once only 360 days long, & that the months were exactly 30 days long. The planet Venus is believed to have once traveled in a cigar-shaped orbit, crossing earth's orbit every 52 years. A near-collision with earth is believed to have altered the length of the year & the length of the lunar period. As Venus appeared very bright when it was nearer earth, t became associated with the queen of heaven, the one worshipped by the Jews of Jeremiah's time.
Tammuz was the son of Nimrod & Semiramis. He was killed by a wild boar while hunting, but Semiramis strrted the legend that the god of the underworld would allow him to return for 6 months of every year if the people wept for him. This carried over into Israel (Eze. 8:14) & became the period of Lent now observed by the RCC & some other denoms. The main change from Tammuz is that it's now equated with Jesus' 40 days in the desert after His temptation by Satan. A rite linked to Tammuz-Lent that has been adopted in the USA is MARDI GRAS, literally Fat Tuesday, a splurge of festivity, eating & drinking that occurs before the austerity of Lent begins.
