Your points are valid. If the earlier English Bibles were translated from the exact same texts (not from the Alexandrian "strain") as the KJV was they were indeed the word of God. The KJV was the crowning achievement of the English translations and of course replaced the others as the Bible of choice of English speakers. You know as well as I that KJV Bibles say that it was translated from the original tongues with other translations diligently compared and revised. No doubt the English Bibles such as the Bishops, Coverdale, Great etc. were used by the translators. I never thought there was much disagreement there, or on the other hand it was never adequately addressed. To ignore the place those translation had in the work of the KJV translators would be silly.
