First of all, XRT Tim, Erasmus WAS a Catholic, at least in name, his whole adult life. True, he drifted away from their goofier stuff as he saw how false it was, looking more toward SCRIPTURE-BASED worship than man-made stuff. But he NEVER disassociated himself from the RCC completely. Not using that to find fault; just pointing out a FACT.
And Dean Burgon
DID
believe the TR needed some more revision. Deny this all ya want, but DB's own words cancel out any arguments otherwise. He supported revision of the Textus Receptus
and KJV (REVISION REVISED, pp. 21, 104, 114, 269) He wrote: "Again and again we shall haveoccasion to point out that the Textus Receptus needs correction" (p. 21).
However, I readily admit that DB much-preferred the TR over the then-recently-found Alex mss, or the RV Bible version. But then a lot has happened & been discovered between DB's death and now.
Now, AGAIN, I call from *PROOF* from those who liketa call me names while being totally unable to prove me wrong. Lessee if any KJVO, especially YOU, Tim or Wil, can disprove the following points:
1.) The KJVO doctrine was made from entirely MAN-MADE sources. The current KJVO doctrine is formed from Dr. Benjamin Wilkinson's 1930 book,
Our Authorized Bible Vindicated.
Proof? Just about every piece of pro-KJVO literature out there uses something from that book, sometimes copying verbatim from it. Allya hafta do is READ THE BOOX in question! How many of ya have actually DONE THAT? I HAVE, so I know of what I speak.
2.) The well-known pre-AV English Bible versions, as well as sevaral post-AV versions, are just-as-valid as the AV or any other English version.
3.) There is absolutely
NO SCRIPTURAL SUPPORT
for KJVO found in the AV1611 itself, either in the text, or in the translators' extratextual material, which is conveniently left outta the newer KJV editions.
There are three for starters. If ya wanna tryta prove me wrong, free of rhetoric & ad-hominem, then go for it. If ya can prove me wrong, I shall admit I was wrong, but if ya can't, I expect YOU to admit you were wrong.
