I think FHII got peeved at Shain because Shain asked who he had faith in, while it was quite obvious from FHII's post Who his faith is in. Jesus Christ, of course.

Scripture says we are saved by faith and works:
Quote:
James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
Non-Catholic Christians love to ignore this passage. It doesn't contradict what Paul says at all.
Quote:
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Paul is speaking of the Jewish works, the Law of Moses, in verse 9; the Jews thought they were justified, made righteous in God's eyes, through their works. Verse 10 goes right along with James 2:24 - we who follow Christ are created in Christ to do good works, but it is still of our free will that we either do or don't do these good works.

And what are the good works we're called to do? See Matthew 25:31-4, and Matthew 28:19-20.
