In a court of law a guilty person is justified (absolved of a crime) once his innocence is established. In a court of law a person is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty.

Before God a person is guilty until proven innocent. We have no way of proving our innocence because we are not innocent of sin and rebellion against God.

God in His mercy sent a Justifier, One who would become guilty in our stead so that our innocence could be declared. And so that, as in the court of law we would be absolved of sin. Accepting that Jesus took our punishment makes us innocent.

JUST as if IED never sinned.

We are justified by faith by believing that the Justifier (Jesus) became guilty of sin in our stead.

My siggy says I am justified but that is only because one day I reached out to God and asked for His mercy.
