DC,
Yes, I agree that the translators would not have known the significance of their work.

I cannot give references that are any different than others have done in the past. They would likely have no more effect than what I have already said, because what I have said is prompted only by my reading of the Scriptures themselves. Thankfully, it is not up to me to convince you for I would fail. That must come from the One who lives within you.

That the translators might have considered their work to be imperfect is not important to me as I explained above.

As for multiple versions, I agree that WITHIN THE SINGLE TEXT OF THE KJB ( THE SCRIPTURES), there can be multiple accounts of a single event, each possibly bringing a variation to the description, so that TOGETHER the complete message is given. I cannot agree that God uses multiple modern versions, separated from one another by translators/producers/editors/purpose, to cover the whole truth, especially because often these versions contradict one another concerning the event. Examples of this have been given in other threads.

P.S. Am I right that you agree with me and not with steelmaker about one MORE EXACT translation, rather than ONE MORE exact translation.

P.S.S. steelmaker, based on other statements made by the translators, I doubt that they considered the previous translations to be "exact". Considering their scholarship, I imagine that they could have come up with a better description, if in fact, they were just adding their work to the already completed versions.

P.S.S.S. steelmaker, you claimed, "Banny's toady constant praise of KJ led to the new Bible being called the "King James" version. " Please document this "fact". My reading shows that the name "King James Version" did not exist until well after 1900. It had nothing to do with anything with what you claim. It was necessary to identify it to distinquish it from the versions beginning to come out.

In the Service of the KING,
Brother Tim Keyes (Proverbs 3:5-6)

When I fully rely upon God, I find that He is fully reliable.
