steelmaker,
Just one quick question, tells us all once again , how many nights did the " death angel " passover?
Was it one night or 7 nights?
We are talking about the Passover, not the Passover feast.
Your trying to force a square peg into a round hole.
Shain1611
Shain, in your desperate attempt to defend Gipp, you're bypassing several of his mistakes, while concentrating on what you believe is a goof on MY part.
First, you're ignoring the fact that he's ENTIRELY INCORRECT about any pagan "Easter" rite being observed by Herod. That simply DIDN'T HAPPEN. And we cannot bypass the fact that the Christian Easter observance DID NOT EXIST in Luke's day. The translation is supposed to reflect the thoughts & messages of the original author as closely as possible, so Luke couldn't POSSIBLY have written about easter. Besides that, he used the Greek word pascha, which at that time meant Passover only.
And, if Passover was over, why did the Jews who arrested jesus avoid entering the Praetorium? John says it's because they didn't wishta be defiled so they couldn't EAT THE PASSOVER. Were there two passovers? Newp! There was one paschal meal to kick off Passover Week. The whole set of rites during that week is collectively called Passover.
Fact is, "Easter" in Acts 12:4 in the KJV is a goof, and for some strange reason, Gipp attempts to justify it, making quite a groddy attempt to do so.
