Thank you, bro Shain!

I've done a whole study on this that I can post, but I'm afraid it would just bore people. (It's pretty long)

The whole crux of the matter is this -
The Sonship of Jesus Christ is all about the mystery of godliness. Namely, God was manifest in the flesh.
Jesus Christs Sonship has to do with that holy thing which was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

The reason why the unbiblical view of the Eternal Sonship of Jesus Christ is seen as the orthodox view is because those who hold this belief equate Christs Sonship to His Godhood.
This is the only reason I can see for such a fervent attachment to this clearly unbiblical doctrine.

I do not equate the Sonship of Jesus Christ to His Godhood anymore than I equate Him being the Lamb of God to His Godhood.

Neither God the Father nor God the Holy Spirit are seen as the Lamb of God, yet They are still part of the Godhead, are They not?

And so also, neither God the Father nor God the Holy Spirit are seen as Son, yet they are still part of the Godhead.

Please do not misunderstand me.

I do not wish to undermine Christs role as Lamb of God in any way.

I am well aware that it is a unique role that could be held by Christ ALONE!

But I also understand that it is not intrinsically connected to His Godhood, or else the Father and the Holy Spirit could not be part of the Godhead.

In the same way, His Sonship, though only Christ could be the Only Begotten Son, is not intrinsically connected to His Deity.

I believe that there is a real danger in equating Christs Sonship to His Godhood.

I know that those who believe in eternal Sonship do not realize this danger, but it remains a danger nonetheless.

The "etertnal Sonship" proponent equates Christs Sonship with His place in the Trinity, i.e., His Deity.
The problem comes in their belief of Christs eternal generation or eternally proceeding from the Father.

This danger can be observed in the ancient creeds and confessions.

The Nicene Creed states,
"And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only-Begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father;by whom all things were made;"

The Westminister Confession states,
the Son is eternally begotten of the Father ; the Holy Ghost eternally proceeding from the Father and the Son."

The Chalcedon Creed says, "...BEGOTTEN OF THE FATHER BEFORE THE AGES."

The Athanasia Creed says, "...BEGOTTEN BEFORE THE WORLDS..."

The Belgic Confession states, "...ETERNALLY BEGOTTEN..."

The 39 Articles of Religion says, "...BEGOTTEN FROM EVERLASTING OF THE FATHER..."

...And I could go on and on.

I contend, brethren, that Christ does not eternally proceed from anyone, nor is He eternally begotten of anyone. To claim so is to detract from His Deity.

Jesus Christ is the GREAT I AM.
He is self-existing, self-sufficient, and self-sustaining.

When He came to earth to be born of a virgin, He HUMBLED himself and became a Servant and a Son!

Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of John 1:18 because there was a day when a Body was prepared for God Almighty to enter into.
There was a day when unto us a child was born, unto us a son was given.
God was manifest in the flesh.

The reading of the NASB and the NWT is BLASPHEMY because they teach that God was begotten.
God, by His very nature, is self-existing.
God CANNOT be begotten, not in time nor in eternity.

My assertion, friends, is that, though I know its intention was just the opposite, the eternal Sonship doctrine actually subtracts from the Deity of Christ by equating Christs Sonship with His Godhood and then claiming that He is eternally begotten of the Father.

The Bible doctrine is that Christ was from eternity the Self-Existing God and on a day in time He was begotten as Son.

"I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Psalm 2:7

Though incarnational Sonship is seen as the unorthodox view, it is the Biblical view.
It is the doctrine that is found in the pages of the King James Bible and it brings glory and honor to Jesus Christ.
