Tim, I'm not saying we don't need the bible. I'm saying that we are to worship God, not the bible. Jesus is our savior, not the bible. The bible tells us God's love story to mankind, and you can find the character of God in the bible. However, you do not find God himself in the bible. You find the testamony of God. You can learn about God from the bible, but you can only really know God by developing a relationship with him. How do you develop that relationship with him? Of course you read about him. But more important than that, you seek his face. You get on your knees, or you prostrate yourself and you talk to God and you listen. You worship God, not the book that tells his story. Paul and the Apostles didn't have the New Testament. All they had was the Old Testament. They didn't worship the scriptures (they didn't even fight over them as you guys do). They simply read them to learn about God, then they sought his face. They developed their relationship with God on their knees, not with their nose in a book. If that's how they worshipped God, why is it that we have to worship the bible in order to worship God. Its exactly the same as you charge the RCC with. You ask them how can they worship Jesus in the Eucharist. I ask you, how can you worship Jesus by worshipping your bible?
