Hi Folks,

Thanks for following and the kind words, HolyBible.

Here is an analogy with the NT to consider.

We have a pure line (Textus Receptus) and impure versions (Alexandrian especially). The Alexandrian texts are all over the map, corrupt, inconsistent.

Dean Burgon pointed out how some of the Alexandrian corruptions arose, in his :
.
Causes of the Corruption of the Traditional Text of the Holy Gospels

Ehrman, with support from folks like Wallace, turns this on its head and accuses the Received Text of being a church-tampered text, discussing verses like 1 Timothy 3:16 and the Johannine Comma and Luke 2:33 with spiritual deception and guile.

We know Ehrman is totally wrong, what he accuses of being tampering is God's Bible, what he trumpets are tawdry corruptions.

Similarly in the Tanach we have a pure line, the Hebrew-Aramaic Masoretic Text, generally supported by the early Vulgate Latin and Aramaic Peshitta translations.

And we have a line rife with corruptions, mostly Greek OT, with no consistency and with tawdry corruptions like putting Romans 3 into Psalm 14.

The Greek OT (socalled LXX) texts are all over the map, corrupt, inconsistent.

And we are told by some (e.g. Christian Identity and other Septuagint pushers) that these are the true texts, and the Masoretic line is corrupt. They claim that the Masoretic line is unreliable, tampered for messianic prophecies, an accusation that should have been put in the dustbin with the discovery of the Great Isaiah Scroll.

This accusation is as deceptive and false as the Ehrman accusation against the NT text. It is an attempt to fight againt the historic Bible. (This does not mean that every statement made by Ehrman or Septuagint-pushers is false, simply the whole perspective and the vast majority of claims and analysis.)

King James Bible supporters do very well to uphold the Received Texts of both the Tanach and NT. The Hebrew-Aramaic Masoretic Text and the Greek Textus Receptus.

And the perfect and pure King James Bible clarifies any small difficulties and differentials in those underlying texts, shining brightly, and gives us the perfect word of God.

Thank you Lord Jesus.

Shalom,
Steven Avery
