Which implies that the Jews did indeed tamper with Messanic prophecies in order to make them appear as if Christ had not fulfilled them. I think that is what Hills is saying.

I am not attacking the Masoretical text as a whole, just pointing out that there are problems within the Hebrew as the result of Jewish tampering: which tampering the Masoretes preserved rather than corrected.

Although no expert in Hebrew, I suppose that the other readings as supplied in the Bomberg printed Bible would show the correct reading as the given interpretation or another reading. Obviously, with the Hebrew, sometimes correct readings were not in the main text.
