THE PROPHETIC APPLICABILITY OF EVENTS OF KING JOSIAH TO THE EVENTS OF THE PURE WORD

Long before Josiah was, a man of God gave a prophecy that one day there would be a king by the name of Josiah who would fulfil a certain thing. By the word of the Lord he gave signs. However, this prophet made a mistake of not keeping to the Word, and so he was killed by a lion.

King Josiah decided to have the temple repaired, and there the book of the law was discovered. And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes. (2 Kings 22:11). And the king said, Go ye, inquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us. (2 Kings 22:13).

And they went through the land and destroyed the idols, altars and put away the wicked people, and so Josiah fulfilled the prophecy which had been spoken concerning him before he was born. And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beer-sheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a mans left hand at the gate of the city. (2 Kings 23:8) .

Josiah died, because he did not heed the Word of the Lord spoken by the king of Egypt, who went forth to Euphrates to fight the Assyrian king, and because Josiah came against Pharaoh-nechoh, he died in battle at Megiddo.

From this, we notice that God has given His Word. Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure (Isaiah 46:10). The Word must come to pass. Thus, we can be sure that God was fully intending that today we would know that His pure Word is present.

Those who have not been faithful with the Word, such as churches, nations, publishers and ministers, the same have found themselves in trouble.

We find that God is very particular about the keeping of His Word. That is, the observing to do it. But Christians cannot be living the Word if they do not have the Word available to them. The Scripture rebukes those who think that the Word is only in heaven or apparently impossible to reach places. But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach (Romans 10:8) .

It was God who caused the Word to be found, Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. (Jeremiah 15:16). Just as the Word was discovered, received and acted upon in the days of King Josiah, so we might find that in these days, the revelation of the pure Word, particularly the Pure Cambridge Edition of the King James Bible, is being reinstated.

Just as they took zeal upon them of old in destroying idols, groves, high places; and in dealing with wizards, false priests and sodomites, so should those who have the pure Word see the failure of modern versions: modern versions lead to a definite end. Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. (2 Timothy 3:79).

Rather interestingly, we find that Josiahs operation was from Geba to Beer-sheba, which happens to relate to two important readings in the Pure Cambridge Edition, namely, Geba at Ezra 2:26 and the word or in relation to Beer-sheba in Joshua 19:2.

The battle between Egypt and Assyria at Euphrates may be taken as a symbol. According to the historicist view, in Revelation, Euphrates represents Islam. Revelation shows that it was the Islamic Turks which took Constantinople, and that one day the Islamic power would dry up. Thus, we might see that events surrounding the going forth of the pure Word are not unrelated to events concerning Muslim nations, especially since Ezekiel 38 and 39 show that they are to be led by Russia in the doomed Northern Confederacy. The fact is that the seeming indestructible hordes of that alien empire are to fall, not merely by wit or will of man, but because God has said it beforehand, as is revealed in His pure Word. Thus, we see (and the world shall see) that we have a mighty prevailing Word. A Word which reveals the name of God in truth: JEHOVAH.
