If your point wan't that numbers prove doctrine, why did you bring it up?  Why mention how many groups follow it vs. how many don't?

This answer does not directly answer the question, but it does give an answer.  Do is believe orthodox teaching are correct?  No.  Truth is 100% or it is 0%.  I have Bible on my side because Jesus said a little leaven leveneth the whole lump.  So I'm opposed to orthodox teaching if I can prove even one point of it is wrong.  It's not Christ's church if it was error in it.  I do agree that it can trend toward the truth as Martin Luther did.

"Christ's Church" was not wrong.   What the Bible says is true and it is the foundation.  So Christ's Church was not in error.  And yes in only extremely rare instances of individuals is Truth revealed.  Jesus mentioned that he would buy the whole field just to get the precious stone.  I'll find that verse for you if you like.  Now I'd like to ask you.... From the book of Romans on up to the the book of Revelation, what was the main point?  IT was about laying a solid foundation and/or refuting false doctrine. So yes I believe the modern day Churches got it wrong.... But They ain't Christ's Church.

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Jas 2:24
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
