You see that the law slayed him typified by John immersing him into the water, but then Jesus comes back up having fulfilled all righteousness and the grave could not hold him, and when he arose he redeemed us with him as his body.

I do not see that as much as the water slain him, but lean more towards the water was the result of being slain.

I would also suggest that Moses, I believe was used to typify the law that struck our Rock....... Christ, and out that work came the water of the gospel, as that which can purify us.

Baptism I believe represents and Old Testament ceremonial law or rite, that was used when the High priest would prepare the way for a new priest, as a purification rite. In this case,  preparing the new priest, of the new covenant for His ministry, and out of that ministry, our baptism, I believe as a reflection of tha., But as a kingdom of Priests who have been baptized by the Holy Spirit, through the hearing of faith through the water of the word, we use h2o as a token pointing to the work of the gospel, as the clean water of God’s word, spoken of in Ezekiel 36.which I belive is a beautifull parable, pointing to our salvation, as the author and finiser thereof. That portions of scripture seem to collaberate with Philipains 2 also.

For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. Eze 36:24

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Phi 2:12

Hi Garee

By the way great discussion...

I think I see the water as being the many peoples that have sinned against God. And that to remain in this sin you will die in your sin.

Rom 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
To come up out of this water ( Sin , Death ) is to put on Christ and a New Life.

Gal 3:27

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

We know its not the Water that cleans us from our sins but the Blood Atonement that we get from out Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Rom 5:11

And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
