"I do not see that as much as the water slain him, but lean more towards the water was the result of being slain."

Yes, truly for he was baptized into the water in obedience to God in fulfilling all righteousness as he also obeyed God in laying his life down.

"I would also suggest that Moses, I believe was used to typify the law that struck our Rock....... Christ, and out that work came the water of the gospel, as that which can purify us.

Baptism I believe represents and Old Testament ceremonial law or rite, that was used when the High priest would prepare the way for a new priest, as a purification rite. In this case, preparing the new priest, of the new covenant for His ministry, and out of that ministry, our baptism, I believe as a reflection of tha., But as a kingdom of Priests who have been baptized by the Holy Spirit, through the hearing of faith through the water of the word, we use h2o as a token pointing to the work of the gospel, as the clean water of God’s word, spoken of in Ezekiel 36.which I belive is a beautifull parable, pointing to our salvation, as the author and finiser thereof. That portions of scripture seem to collaberate with Philipains 2 also."

Amen and I can see what you are saying here. The thing about the baptism that hits me the most though is the death of the old man, being baptized into his death.

Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

The death of the flesh, my will against God's, that my spirit may live in his Spirit, in God. I see that aspect of cleansing by the water, but I think the aspect of death gives more understanding to the type of cleansing. Rather than just a "white washing" so to speak, it is a through and through cleansing of the death and resurrection....kind of like the cleansing or more accurately "trying" of gold in a furnace....know what I mean?

I am not your teacher and only wish to share things with you that you may in turn try them by your own knowledge of the Lord. I really don't know any thing. Still learning and growing in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Praying for you and all men that you would also come to the knowledge of the truth and continue to grow in it. I am a sinner, but I have a hope that God through Jesus Christ our Lord will deliver me from my present situation of being a sinner and deliver me from this vile body and I thank him for this promise of eternal life. This is my faith that I share with all my brethren in the Lord who we patiently wait for. Jesus Christ IS come in the flesh.

Rom 8:22-25  For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
