Thanks FHll,I did not shave for a while, like Shain I had this unorthodox desire to not shave and was having some fun at my wife’s expense, who was not that fond of it, but went along with it untill the cut off period....... she suggested/ required, came to pass. But she did buy the coat and hat as a birthday gift.
I worked in a foundry as a maintenance mechanic /electrician for 35 years and after having a triple by pass, they let me go during the next lay off opportunity. I was too young to retire so I grew it, until I found a job.
I don't want you to change your avatar to you in a leather girdle....
LOL......I have some friends on this Indian reservation and when I was a younger man, we had this saying in regard to her name which was Myrtle, we would say to her .......... Myrtle, Myrtle, buckskin girdle and a rawhide brassiere, then run for the setting sun, all in fun. Thanks for that memory....LOL
I simply wonder if anyone in the Bible would ever dress in leather and have long hair and have a beard!
John the Baptist who typified Elijah as a forerunner (like Aaron), as needed for some one coming from the line of Aaron, to fulfill the Old Testament ceremonial laws requirements of the purification rite (baptism) preparing Christ for His ministry, as our high Priest. I am not sure if he had a beard but He was hairy, which possibly could have been some sort of indication that he was a Nazarene, like Samson. Hair or lack of it makes an intersting study.
2Ki 1:8 And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
As far as the pigment of Christ's flesh, I guess I would lean towards George Jefferson's theory, seeing, Christ..... the son of man, which speaks of Christ humanity was descended as Ethiopian Jew, which I understand are darker then most of the artis’st conception who seem to depict him of European descent, not that it could make any difference.
